Stillwater Domestic Violence Services provides safe and secure shelter for women and children seeking refuge from domestic violence.  The shelter provides women and children a temporary place to recuperate with food and clothing, if necessary, while helping individuals find work.  Individuals needing shelter are provided with a therapist for individual counseling weekly and are encouraged to attend domestic violence and parenting groups.  Stillwater Domestic Violence Services aids individuals reclaim their independence from abusive partners or family members while taking care of their basic needs.  An individual or family’s stay in safe shelter is usually about 30 days, although this can be amended due to specific individual circumstances.

The safe sheltering forbids domestic violence of any kind during an individuals stay, including physical, verbal, emotional and sexual.  The safe shelter provides an opportunity for women and children to escape the cycle of violence being experienced in their homes so that they may become productive citizens of the community.
